Today, Buckingham Palace is very much a working building and the centrepiece of the UK’s constitutional monarchy, serving as the venue for many royal events and ceremonies from entertaining foreign Head of States to celebrating achievement at Investitures and receptions.
More than 50,000 people visit the Palace each year as guests to State banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and Garden Parties. Her Majesty also holds weekly audiences with the Prime Minister and receives newly-appointed foreign Ambassadors at Buckingham Palace.
Join the AWC while we visit the Palace and the 19 magnificent State Rooms which provide the setting for ceremonial occasions and official entertaining. All rooms are furnished with many of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection.
The tour will include the special exhibit that marks the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria's birth. This special exhibition will tell the story of how the young queen transformed Buckingham Palace from a private house into a working royal residence.
This is a self guided audio tour allowing members, and their guests, the opportunity to move through the state rooms and enjoy the exhibit at their own pace.
Once finished inside, let's meet in the Garden Cafe that overlooks the famous Palace Lawn and enjoy light refreshments including tea, coffee, sandwiches, delicious pastries, and of course scones with jam and clotted cream. Then we can shop till we drop in the fabulous Garden Shop, where you can find exclusive gifts inspired by the royal palaces and the works of art in the royal collection.
Your ticket allows you access to the palace gardens for a royal stroll. See if you can spot the trees the Queen had planted for her each of her children.
*The garden cafe and shop are strictly optional and there are several restaurants in the area if you'd prefer to finish your outing with a more formal meal.
